How to make:
Pea falafel from the oven
Make healthy falafel easily and quickly
With delicious hummus, stuffed pita or yummy wraps you can't be missing fresh falafel. To make these yourself at home is so simple! In my somewhat healthier version, the falafel are baked in the oven. They are softer than fried ones, but still very aromatic and versatile. The combo of peas and chickpeas not only makes for a beautiful color, but also a very special falafel flavor. Important for the most perfect falafel are lots of fresh herbs and enough spices. I like lots of garlic and spicy food, of course you can adjust the recipe to your liking. Add some tahini sauce or a salad on the side and you're good to go!
Ingredients for about 20 Falafel:
250g Kichererbsen aus der Dose
2 kleine Zwiebeln
15g frische Petersilie
15g frische Minze
1TL Ras el Hanout
250g Chickpeas · 150g Peas · 2 Onions · 2 Garlic cloves · 15g Mint · 15g Parsley
First, chop or puree the well-drained chickpeas, peas, roughly chopped onions, garlic, parsley and mint in a blender. The mass can be quite coarse.
1TL Kümmel · 1TL Ras el Hanout · 1EL Oregano · 1EL Koriander · 2EL Zitronensaft · 2EL Olivenöl · 50g Tahini · Chili · Salz
Then season with the remaining ingredients. Preheat the oven to 220° top/bottom heat.
Form the falafel with your hands with about tablespoon-sized amounts of the falafel mixture and place them on a baking tray covered with parchment paper. Then bake in the oven for about 35-40 minutes until they look crispy. After that, let them cool down so that they become a little firmer.
