Feinkosterei Schwarz-Hirsch

Vienna, 1st District

Feinkosterei

What you can expect...

The restaurant is located in the middle of the 1st district directly on Judenplatz. When the weather is good you have a nice view of the square from the tables outside. Inside, however, is by no means less beautiful: you can either sit in a cozy "booth" by the window or on high tables with bar stools. The elegant décor with a long bar, mirrors and beautiful lighting makes it a perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or to just treat yourself. From specials, recommendations, seasonal dishes and the classic menu, surely everyone will find something to their taste here. You'll find plenty of vegetarian dishes as well. The tapas format allows you to try a few classics at once. Those who come with a big appetite will be absolutely satisfied with 2-3 tapas and one desserts. Sharing 5 tapas for two is ideal. The meal is accompanied by a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

What I always get...

As with any good go-to restaurant, after a few visits you have your favorite dishes. Since the menu changes from time to time, you still get to try new things often. Our top picks: Tagliatelle with fresh mushrooms and pumpkin (6.90 €), The best of the Würstelstandl (10.80 €), Wiener Schnitzel (8.10 €), spinach dumplings (6.50 €), grilled goat cheese (9.80 €) and as a dessert pecan pie (6.20 €) and milk cream strudel with vanilla sauce (8 €). Definitely also try the rhubarb grapefruit lemonade!

Summary

The Feinkosterei is an excellent restaurant that I would love to go to every week. But because of to the rather high price, which is justified by the quality, I would classify it as a place for special occasions or when you really want to treat yourself. The food is amazing and the staff friendly. A clear recommendation from me!
